Cleveland Wedding Photographer

I strive to shoot photos with meaning. Photos of true moments. Photojournalism is all about getting that perfect moment, showing the emotion. Making photographs that are true. My goal when shooting weddings is to document your day in as unobtrusive a way as possible while catching those memorable moments. Unposed. Unscripted. Real. Gone are the days where we need to pose everything. This is life, this is joy and this is the way it should be photographed.

As a Cleveland, Ohio wedding photojournalist, it is my job to observe. Anticipate. Look for the things that you don't expect. Create an interesting set of images, and present a body of work that is memorable, creative and unique.

My focus is editorial and documentary photography and you can see my portfolio at KEN BLAZE DOT COM. My schooling and experience in documentary photography lends itself well to the art of shooting weddings. I grew up on the south side of Cleveland in the Parma area. Moved west to Lakewood while I went to St. Ignatius High School in Ohio City, and then I graduated from Kent State University in 1995 with a degree in Photojournalism. I was able to get a staff photographer position with the Willoughby News-Herald in 1996 and that's where I stayed until 2007. I currently live on Cleveland's west side with my wife Kristen, son Luca and daughter Rio. I left my position at the News-Herald to concentrate my career as a freelancer and to stay at home during the week with Luca. That's when I began to shoot weddings.

I am also a Fearless Photographer. One of a select few photographers for Cleveland and Ohio.

Cleveland documentary wedding photography is my specialty. As a veteran of true photojournalism in Cleveland, I am one of the very few in town that has experience as a journalist. I use my experience as a journalist to create images that are true, emotional, organic and real. This way of shooting lends itself to unique Cleveland wedding photos. In March of 2010 I was named 1st runner-up in the WPJA's Photographer of the Year award for 2009. More simply, 1st in the United States and 2nd in the world.

In my spare time, what there is of it, I am hanging out in Cleveland with my two kids Luca and Rio, or playing in one of my underground bands ... and no the kids weren't just named after songs ... I have been married since 2006 to my soul mate Kristen.
